St John Ambulance SA is launching a Mountain Bike Specific First Aid Course – the first of its kind designed by mountain bikers, for mountain bikers. The first two day public course runs on 27th - 28th July and takes place outdoors in Mylor. With the sport growing in popularity – especially in South Australia - it’s crucial that those riding in remote areas know what to do in the case of serious injuries. World Trail is currently undertaking a study for Yarra Ranges Council, looking at the feasibility of developing a network of mountain biking trails in the township of Warburton, Victoria. The underlying motivation for this project is the need to increase tourism visitation to Warburton that will in turn provide an economic stimulus to the local economy. A new network of dual-use trails in one of the State’s most popular national parks will be unveiled this morning. The trails at Belair National Park, which attracts more than 300,000 visitors a year, are designed for both mountain bikers and walkers and form part of an exciting network of new shared-use trails stretching across more than 60km.
